This whole thread made me go out on a search for the strange music that Malcom's character plays again and again. And I found it! (and playing it repeatedly since. So watch out for any since of growing anger and possible rebellion ;) ). "if..." was one of those films where certain scenes just burned themselves into my memory. The corporal punishment, the love story between the younger boy and Malcom's gymnast friend and so forth.

And hey - I love the "The Third Man", so my experience with Carol Reed was rather similar.

As for Pandora's Box it really lived up to its name, in that the plot kept opening up new evils and terrors. the ending with the murder juxtaposed with Lulu's father eating a Christmas Pudding gave me shivers.
