The Pacific

First real sneak peak at the series The Pacific, aka the new WWII series by the team that made Band of Brothers. Due for release in 2010. Why, yes - I am excited.

As far as I know it is based on Eugene B. Sledge's book "With the Old Breed: At Peleliu and Okinawa" which is pretty good as far as WWII-memoires go.

YAY! I think I have seen the main actor somewhere.

In other good news, Mr. Alexander (left on his own for two weeks :D) have gulped all "The Wire" seasons we own on DVDs and keeps tellingme how great it is. ;D And he is ordered season 5, all by himself!

I think I've seen the main actor too, and on the whole I'm very much looking forward to this.

And yay for Mr. Alexander and his excellent series taste. I had a similar experience with my SO. hee.

Finally! With the Old Breed has been in my TBR pile mountain for ages. Guess I'd better read it by 2010.

Yes, indeed! (though apparently they have moved the release date from late 2009 to 2010, but I can live with that.) And "With the Old Breed" is recommended. It is very unsentimental and not so much with the flowery language.

I think I'll be watching this. ;)
