Just so you know all this praise is making me blush. Not a nice colour either - but more on the beet red side. ;)
As for "Ronia" - I can do nothing but highly recommend it. I'm more than a little biased though. This book, and in part this series, shaped me. To the degree that should I point to writers who inspired me and helped me form my views on the world, one of the first would be Lindgren.
I also hope you like the music. I recommend the Ronia music as well. Sung by the Stockholm Opera Choir IIRC.
