A slightly modified version of the image-meme seen floating around LJ lately. Apparently I cannot resist a meme that focuses on pictures.

1. Post ten of any pictures currently on your hard drive that you think are self-expressive.

2. NO CAPTIONS! It must be like we're speaking with images and we have to interpret your visual language just like we have to interpret your words.

3. They must ALREADY be on your hard drive - no googling or flickr! They have to have been saved to your folders sometime in the past. They must be something you've saved there because it resonated with you for some reason.

In other news I am way behind on comments, and will start working on that in the next few days. Apparently those who said that summer was a time for holidays and relaxation lied.

I've tried to resist, but I cannot help it. I just love movie quotes too much. And though I wouldn't call all these movies my favourites, they are all films I've seen more than twice.

Hmm..not much posting lately - but I'm currently trying to finish a paper and watching season 4 of The Wire.

I'm on episode six now and I must say that this season might become my new favourite, right next to season two. ( cut for s4 spoilers )

I'm going to break the rules a bit though, and instead be inspired by winterspel. Meaning I won't tag any one, but if you feel like doing the meme then please do.

You all know how some rather extreme environmentalists wanted to kill the über-cute Knut in the Berlin zoo? Well, apparently the show is not over for the polar bear, because now Knut is blamed for a conspiracy to murder! I quote:

Yan Yan, the zoo's most popular resident until Knut's arrival, died suddenly at the age of 22.

A gift from the Chinese leadership to Helmut Kohl, the former German chancellor, Yan Yan spent much of her time lying on her back chomping at bamboo shoots and was, by all accounts, a happy panda. Heinrich Kloes, the zoo's chief bear curator, said there had been no signs of illness.

But something changed on Monday, days after Knut's introduction to tumultuous crowds, and Yan Yan lay down and died. The cause of death has yet to be determined, but already fingers are being pointed at three-month-old Knut.

The theory is that the stress of Knut, or more precisely Knut's fans proved fatal to the poor panda.
