Comment on this post. I'll choose seven userpics from your profile and you'll reply here (or you know, your own journal, whichever), explaining what they mean and why you're using them. Post this along with your answers in your own journal so others can play along.

And since I love all my pretty icons, how could I refuse?

Eleanor from The Lion in Winter, looking very ladylike and meek at the films beginning. It will only take the film about five minutes to show how wrong this impression is.

Eleanor: What would you have me do? Give out? Give up? Give in?
Henry II: Give me a little peace.
Eleanor: A little? Why so modest? How about eternal peace? Now there's a thought.

Basically I just love Eleanor and I love Katharine Hepburn.

------

I’ve always been interested in World War II (I blame my dad for dragging me to air shows when I was a kid and pointing out the Spitfires and Hurricanes), and I love the old poster art from the 1930’s and 1940’s. So basically it was a perfect match.

------

I love crows, magpies and ravens. It’s the whole trickster-myth thing. This is my third icon with a corvidae feature. I’m always on the look out for more.

------

I defy anyone to watch Friday Night Lights and not fall in love with grumpy coach Taylor. (The only excuse is if they fell in love with Mrs. Coach instead, because I’m good with that too...)

------

I adore the cropping on this one, and how the watermark in the corner becomes part of the composition. I’ve also always, for some odd reason, liked bees in art. Not so much in real life though as they file under "Another thing I’m allergic against." But this icon is one of my favourites.

------

Thanks to a post by [livejournal.com profile] alexandral I discovered the wonderful artist Mikhail Vrubel, and since [livejournal.com profile] alexandral is such a great icon maker the post also came with icons. How could I not take one? I love the contrast between the diagonal knife and the golden, round wreath on the angels head.

------

It’s a cat with vampire teeth!? How could I not love it? I love cats and I love surreal things – and this fits the bill on both. Also it’s good to have an icon that at least pretends to be scary.

------

ETA:I made none of these icons myself, but if you are wondering who did they should all be mentioned and credited on my icon-info page.

It’s a cat with vampire teeth!?

hee, when I piss off my kitty, her mouth will open a bit and I see her fangs. Then I tell her "You're a dragon!"

Hee! Gotta love cats. My oldest cat will sometimes stick his tongue a bit out at the same time as showing his fangs. He ends up looking like a demented vampire.

Is this the one where you explain the history behind the icons? Ok! I like procrastination.

I've never actually seen Lion in Winter. I should be ashamed of myself, shouldn't I? Oh, and I'm allergic to bees as well. Which is a shame, because I do like them. Wasps are evil, but bees are sort of nice. Except for the allergy part.

Well, now you have the time to do so? *nudge, nudge* I love that film - the dialogue is just wonderful.

Wasps are evil, but bees are sort of nice.

Bees make honey, and I love honey. But wasps are the incarnation of terror.

I really should watch "The Lion in Winter" again. I saw it years back but in German dubbing. Thus I fear the film lost much of its original quality. But your quotes make me curious. (I saw the English version of "Suddenly, last summer" and Katherine Hepburn is absolutely brilliant in it. She is a great actress. And what I like most: she does not portray the "typical female" but a strong person who does not necessarily have to be rescued and is certainly not a "femme fragile"!)

Oh I would definitely recommend "The Lion in Winter" in is original English. Specifically since the dialogue is so important and some of the puns are almost impossible, IMHO, to translate.

And what I like most: she does not portray the "typical female" but a strong person who does not necessarily have to be rescued and is certainly not a "femme fragile"

I couldn't agree more -and I love how she manages to portray both softness and strength with equal believability.

Oh, and do you want to do the icon meme?
