baleanoptera: (Goonies)

I've tried to resist, but I cannot help it. I just love movie quotes too much. And though I wouldn't call all these movies my favourites, they are all films I've seen more than twice.

Pick 10 of your favorite movies.
Go to IMDb and find a quote from each movie.
Post them here for everyone to guess.
Strike it out when someone guesses correctly, and put who guessed it and the movie.
NO GOOGLING/using IMDb search functions.

1. A: There is a war on. How is it you are headed west?
B: Well, we kinda face to the north and real subtle-like turn left.
Last of the Mohicans, guessed by [livejournal.com profile] bzoppa and [livejournal.com profile] lage_nom_ai

2. Screws fall out all the time, the world is an imperfect place.
The Breakfast Club, guessed by [livejournal.com profile] so_spiffed

3. A: And remember, this gun is pointed right at your heart.
B: That is my least vulnerable spot. Casablanca, guessed by [livejournal.com profile] dianora77

4. In a world where carpenters get resurrected, everything is possible

5. I'm not even supposed to be here. I'm just "Crewman Number Six." I'm expendable. I'm the guy in the episode who dies to prove how serious the situation is.
Galaxy Quest, guessed by [livejournal.com profile] bzoppa

6. A: 29.80. Would you like it gift wrapped?
B: No. It's for me.
, The Lives of Others, guessed by [livejournal.com profile] lage_nom_ai
(please note that this one is translated from a language other than English)

7. We all have abnormalities in common. We're a breed apart from the rest of humanity, we theatre folk. We are the original displaced personalities.

8. A: I've always wondered, what's the devil look like?
B: Well, there are all manner of lesser imps and demons, ____, but the great Satan hisself is red and scaly with a bifurcated tail, and he carries a hay fork.
C: Oh, no. No, sir. He's white, as white as you folks, with empty eyes and a big hollow voice.

9. Well, everyone knows Custer died at Little Bighorn. What this book presupposes is... maybe he didn't.

10. He went out the window... why would someone do that? The Bourne Identity, guessed by [livejournal.com profile] so_spiffed

Yes on both accounts! Regarding quote one - I love that line too. I think it is one of my favourite in the whole film.

2. The Breakfast Club! I watched that just the other day. *g*

10. Aw, back at the beginning of things. The Bourne Identity?

Yes and yes! :) Ah, the sweet innocence of The Bourne Identity - aka the film where Jason Bourne still smiled and before the epic man!pain manifested itself. Love them all though.

Hee, [livejournal.com profile] meganbmoore always has her Bourne-Damon-angst posts and icon, and I still haven't seen 2 or 3. While I know the movies are loosely based on fundamental idea of the books, I still have a hangup about READ then WATCH these. I should probably just get over it.

Hee. I think with Bourne it is safe to just skip the books. I've read the first book and it is basically a different story. There are a few similarities such as the amnesiac spy plot and the frantic travelling to discover the truth. And as far as I can make out the plot in film 2 & 3 differ even more from the books. So, just watch the film and enjoy the angst that is Bourne. ;)

Is #3 from Casablanca?

Yes it is! Now I love Bogart, but it is Claude Rains and his Captain Renault who is the highlight of that film for me.

I'm pathetically ignorant, because I don't know any of them. *sigh*

Or maybe the quotes are just a bit obscure. I actually chose not to include the more famous of my favourites like LOTR and such, as I wanted to make it a bit difficult. So take comfort in that. ;)

And I love that icon so!

Thank you. It's one of my favorites, too.

#1: You know I had that one!!

#6: Das Leben Den Anderen (The Lives of Others)?

Hee. To be honest I would have been a bit miffed had you not been able to guess #1.;D And #6 is correct! Yay you for getting that!

I don't remember where number nine is from, but - I think I have a clear image of Owen Wilson saying it? Or maybe it's just because it's the sort of thing that Owen Wilson would say.

No, you're on the right track - it's him. So in which film does he talk about a book about Custer?
