baleanoptera: (Fairytale Wintermouse)

Maybe some of you have already seen this, but I loved it too much not to post it.

Wildlife photographer Norbert Rosing was on a trip to Hudson Bay in 2006, when a wild polar bear came upon him and his sled dogs. Rosing was sure that he was going to see the end of his dogs when the polar bear wandered in, but:

The Polar Bear returned every night that week to play with the dogs.

For more gorgeous Norbert Rosing photos go here.

(And yes, there might be a a cynical explanation like this was obviously a well fed bear, but I'm going to ignore that for today. ;) )

Not to mention the slightly worried face of the dog in the second to last shot. Hee.

Awww! A panserbjørn! ;)

Poor bear, he must have been so lonely, though. :(

Again I'm discovering great things thanks to you. I was certain your icon represented Lyra and Pan, so I was most surprised to find out it actually didn't. And even more surprised and delighted to discover the magical illustrations of Henriette Sauvant. Wow! She's like the Dali of children's books. Quite amazing! :D
Also, who drew the picture in your "Crow in hair" icon?

But it looks a bit like Lyra doesn't it? And the comparison of Sauvant and Dali is most apt I think. She also made the icon on this comment, and I just adore it! Imagine having the idea of combining a key and a city in such a way? I love it! :) (oh, and both icons are made by the wonderful [livejournal.com profile] semyaza)

The crow in hair is by Nicoletta Ceccoli (and shame on me for forgetting to credit the artist) and I got the icon from this wonderful batch (http://semyaza.livejournal.com/490348.html#cutid1) of icons, again by [livejournal.com profile] semyaza.

I love the key-city! :D Trying to find Henriette's stuff on the internet, I came across this one, which is my current favourite (http://img139.imageshack.us/img139/3839/9320109bc3.jpg) - It takes me back to that state of mind I had in my childhood (also, the girl kinda looks like me when I was a kid).
Thanks for the link to those icons! :)

That must have been one surprised dog. I don't believe the cynical explanation. I think the bear wanted to play. :D

Hee. Yes - I just love the looks on the dogs faces, and I adore the second to last picture with the dog practically disappearing into the bear hug. :)

I adore that last picture. It's so "And the lion lay down with the lamb." If only we could learn to get alongh as well.

So true. I think my favourite is the second to last shot, because I love the hug. But the whole series is fabulous.
